Is 3 Grams of Creatine Enough?

Is 3 Grams of Creatine Enough?

Five grams has become the number most people associate with creatine. You see it in powders, pre-workouts and, increasingly, functional coffees.

So, is 3 grams actually enough?

The short answer is yes. Three grams falls within the commonly recommended daily maintenance range for creatine. When we developed Morning Grind’s Power Blend, that amount was chosen intentionally.

Why Power Blend contains 3 grams

Power Blend wasn’t created to be a creatine supplement that happens to taste like coffee. It was designed as a balanced, all-in-one addition to your morning routine.

Each serving combines 3 grams of creatine with 10 grams of collagen, 5 grams of MCTs, Lion’s Mane, Chaga, L-theanine, L-tyrosine and 100% Arabica coffee.

Choosing 3 grams provides a meaningful daily amount while still giving you flexibility. Some people want a simple maintenance dose, while others already get creatine from additional supplements or products and may not want another full 5 grams in their coffee.

I personally already take 5 grams of creatine either through my protein shake or through a separate cup of traditional coffee. I get an additional 3 from Power Blend on the days I drink it as an afternoon pick-me-up or a pre-workout energy booster. A supplemental 8 grams for me is ideal as I often train twice a day and am aiming to increase strength in both the weight room and the climbing gym, increase my cycling FTP, and improve my running pace.

Keep in mind, most people get anywhere from 1-2 grams of creatine daily already from their normal diet from sources like red meat, poultry, and seafood.

Is 5 grams better than 3 grams?

Not necessarily.

Research commonly places daily creatine maintenance intake between 3 and 5 grams. While 5 grams is a popular amount, more doesn’t automatically mean better for every person.

Your ideal intake may depend on your body size, diet, training goals and whether you get creatine from other sources. Someone focused heavily on strength or power may prefer 5 grams, while someone looking for an approachable daily amount may find 3 grams fits their routine better.

If your personal goal is 5 grams per day, Power Blend can still provide the foundation. You can add the remaining amount separately without being locked into a larger dose every time you want a cup of coffee.

Consistency matters

You don’t need to complete a creatine loading phase to benefit from supplementation. Taking a smaller amount consistently can increase muscle creatine stores more gradually over time.

That’s one reason coffee makes so much sense as part of the routine. Your morning cup is already a habit. There’s no additional shaker bottle, complicated timing strategy or scoop to remember later.

Just add water, mix and get on with your morning.

The bottom line

Three grams of creatine isn’t a compromise. It’s an evidence-supported maintenance amount chosen to make Power Blend useful for a broad range of active people.

We didn’t build Morning Grind around the biggest number we could print on the bag. We built it around an amount that makes sense in a product people can enjoy and use consistently.

Because the best routine isn’t always the most extreme one. It’s the one you’ll stick with.
